“OUT OF THE BOX “ was a Youth in Action project organized by 4YOUNG Association from Romania ,during 05-13 May 2014 and addressed to young people between 18-25 years old.
The multilateral youth exchange on action 1.1 was organized in Romania, in a rural area having partner organisations from Slovakia, Greece, Lithuania, Poland, Spain, Bulgaria.
The project objectives were established according to the learning needs of the participants in order to help them through a structured program activities address the issue of European citizenship by improving their knowledge and practical approach. Education in European citizenship as general objective of the project was looking to develop social and civic competences of the participants.
The project helped participants to become aware of what is European citizenship in practice - a set of skills, attitudes and values that generates actions and practices for an active citizenship. In "Out of the box" through the non-formal activities and methods used , the participants were encouraged to engage in discussions about issues that concern the EU , be informed about European values, European history, rights and responsibilities deriving from being an European citizen, European institutions and how their decisions affects their daily lives, in order to become aware that they are European citizens and they have the responsibility of building its future based on active intervention in their community.
Promoting active citizenship is a key element for enhancing both the fight against racism, xenophobia and intolerance, as well as cohesion and democracy.
The "out of the box" gave an equal opportunity for those with fewer opportunities to use their valence at highest level and thus integrate in daily life. Skills acquired by participants in the "OUT OF THE BOX" project were certified by Youthpass
